The Ballad Of Mr. O'Donnell's Daughter Mr. O'Donnell I noticed your daughter wandering along the field over yonder hand in hand with a wild eyed boy who goes by the name of Danny Malloy his temper is wicked his manner so sly his tongue it grows crooked and he reaks of the rye I thought you should know and it brings me no joy to slander the name of young Danny Malloy A couple days later I noticed your daughter with that boy Danny way down by the water under the dock where the fishing boats tie may the lord strike me should this be a lie Mr. O'Donnell I've seen them together side by side on the hay and the heather his voice in a whisper and her hair all undone behind the old mill in the afternoon sun Batten the door to her chamber down tight by chance young Danny comes calling at night fetch your prize pistol from out of it's case I'd do the same sir if it were my place Mr. O'Donnell I noticed your daughter wandering along the field over yonder hand in hand with a wild eyed boy how I wish I could be that Danny Malloy Copyright 1999 Fred W Clark/Stephen J Koritta/Surfmonk Music (ASCAP)

about

When "Living In Dakin's Neighborhood" was released in 2000, the album notes read: Folk-Rock that rocks!
Bright instrumentals, soothing harmonies, sing along/hook laden choruses, interesting characters and story lines dominate Fred Clark's second CD release.
Now, all these years later, the acoustic demos for this album have been rediscovered. Recorded mostly live on a four track, the acoustic demos showcase the songs in a more pure form. The demos were recorded by Stephen Koritta and sent to LIDN producer Jim Callahan and his brand new Jupiter Studios in St. Louis to prep for the LIDN sessions.
Fred sang and played guitar, Stephen played guitar, bass, and sang, with Mike Garrett, Jr. adding percussion on one tune (the instrumental, "Loose Cannon"). The demos were recorded in late 1999, at Fred's residence in Collinsville, IL.
"Living In Dakin's Neighborhood" was recorded with a full band, featuring Fred and Stephen, Larry O'Neal, Brian McClelland, Karl Dodson, Mike Garrett, Jr, and Jim Callahan. It received rave reviews upon it's release, and produced a minor hit in small market radio with the single "Roll River On".
Late in 2017, Stephen rediscovered the demos at his home in Fairview Heights, IL, transferred it to digital and remixed all the songs. He then sent it to Fred as a surprise gift. Happy to be reunited with the demos, Fred made a decision to release the collection as "Acoustic Neighborhood: The Living In Dakin's Neighborhood Demos". He then brought in his cousin, Gary Will, to do the mastering.
In a tweet, Fred stated: "I've decided to release the Living In Dakin's Neighborhood demos because I love the live acoustic vibe of these demos, the rawness of the demos, and I think it's easy to connect to this pure sound.
Fred moved to Louisiana soon after the release of LIDN and continued his solo career as well as recording with his wife, Lauren Lottinger, and others. He has been on the first round Grammy ballot several times. Stephen performs as a solo act and with an acoustic duo, Charlotte Street, as well as other projects.
